Snow Management for Standing Seam Roofing: Spotlight on ASG4025 & ASG4025-Mini

Of all the residential metal roofing options available today, metal standing seam is the best-selling. And it’s no wonder. A metal standing seam roof can increase the resale value of your home by up to 6% when compared with an asphalt shingled roof. And that’s not all. If you sell your home, you’ll recoup 80% – 90% of the cost you put into a new standing seam roof. Metal standing seam roofs have almost no required maintenance and warranties that can stretch out to five decades. It’s clear to see why homeowners are choosing metal standing seam as their roofing choice. Not to mention, metal roofing is also recyclable. When you’re looking for snow management systems, we have you covered. Alpine SnowGuards’ snow management systems for metal standing seam roofs employ precision-engineered clamp-to-seam technology.

Snow Management for Metal Standing Seam Roofing

Metal standing seam roofing is unique in appearance. However, attaching anything to it can be tricky. You don’t want to void the roofing manufacturer’s warranty by penetrating roofing material. That’s why we pair oval-point set screws with our clamp-to-seam options.

Important points to remember when choosing and installing clamps

It’s important to remember to choose clamps that:

  • Utilize oval-point set screws that won’t penetrate the roofing material
  • Won’t void the roofing manufacturer’s warranty
  • Don’t utilize adhesive, so there’s no worry about the effects from changes in temperature
  • Before you install your clamps, be sure to check that the roofing panels are securely fastened to the roof, in order to absorb the load that will be transferred by adding clamps
  • Once the seam material compresses, make sure to tighten and then re-tighten the set screws
  • When installing clamps designed specifically for pipe-style snow management systems, be sure to leave a break in the pipe every 100’ to allow for thermal expansion

ASG4025 Two-Pipe Snow Guard

Forged from a single block of recycled aluminum, and measuring a tall 5.25”, the rugged ASG4025 utilizes three oval-point set screws. If can be ordered in mill finish or powder coated with a TIGER Drylac® RAL exterior color that will match the roofing material perfectly (see photo below).

The two-pipe configuration accepts 1” OD pipe and is compatible with the use of Ice Flags and Ice Screens. A centered flag position gives the system balanced aesthetics by avoiding left or right flag positioning.

Speaking of flags, the flag thickness on the ASG4025 is ¼”, which, to reduce twisting, is DOUBLE the standard thickness.

Another attribute that makes the ASG4025 a sought-after system is the fact that it can be used in-line with our ASG4000G-U system. It has identical height, width, depth and pipe placement. This is especially helpful when adding more snow guards to an already-outfitted ASG4000G-U installation.

Mini Snow Guard for Metal Standing Seam Roofing

ASG4025-Mini

The ASG4025 has a mini counterpart, the (aptly named) ASG4025-Mini. This smaller version of the ASG4025 is also forged from a solid block of recycled aluminum. This more petite system accepts 3/8” OD pipe and utilizes two oval-point set screws.

Measuring just over 3.5” in height, the ASG4025-Mini system can also be powder-coated to match the roofing material, or ordered in mill finish (shown).

Both systems are made right here in Morrisville, Vermont USA, and can help a building qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) credits through the U.S. Green Buildings Council (USGBC®).

We have many options to choose from – in fact, we have a snow management system for EVERY roof type, even solar!

Have questions? Go ahead and ask – that’s what we’re here for!

Oh, and before we forget….we’re always on the lookout for photos of our products installed. If you have any hi-res photos that you’d like to share, please send them our way. We would love to share them, too! There’s a good possibility they’ll make their way onto our Online Project Gallery, into a blog post like this, and across social media (we will of course tag, link, and mention your company).
